Reapproaching Developmental Trauma
Sebern Fisher's talk Waking the Tiger and Letting Her Sleep explores the core issue of attachment and attachment shock, the primary focus of DBR, as well as the compelling need for affect regulation, a central focus of neurofeedback. For those caught in the aftermath of developmental trauma, integrating both neurofeedback and DBR may be what is needed for lasting and profound results.
Experience Deep Brain Reorienting
Dr. Frank Corrigan will be sharing a powerful new modality - Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR). Like neurofeedback, DBR is essentially a therapy for the brain, most particularly for the brainstem. The brainstem is the first instigator and registrar of raw emotion, and directly activates the amygdala. The process of DBR involves slowing down and tracking brainstem sequences that allow people to find and, in Dr. Corrigan’s words, 'empty the file' of early attachment shock. This session will include a demonstration of DBR from Dr. Frank Corrigan for a lucky attendee interested in experiencing DBR.
Understanding New Approaches
Join Professor Ruth Lanius as she shares exciting updates on her team’s Deep Brain Reorienting research. Professor Lanius and her team began their research of DBR before the pandemic, but continued throughout gathering fMRI data and clinical measures on people with histories of developmental trauma. Her 2023 research publication shows significant clinical improvement after 8 sessions of DBR and continued improvement 3 months later. Ruth and her colleagues are are excited to share new research and review recent findings with attendees of the Traums 24 conference.
A Message from Lars Vala, CEO
In this time of increasing upheaval and conflict, there are also luminous opportunities emerging. As many of you know, among the opportunities are the promising outcomes from neurofeedback and Deep Brain Reorienting. We are excited to invite you to this event, a hybrid in-person and online live-streaming conference, October 4 & 5 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The keynote speakers are Dr. Ruth Lanius, Dr. Frank Corrigan, and Sebern Fisher, three pioneers in recovering from trauma. They are gathered to share with you the gathering evidence of what neurofeedback and Deep Brain Reorienting can do, bringing hope to our communities in these uncertain times.
After a lot of planning and preparation, we've decided to announce this conference early to allow our community the chance to save the dates and begin making arrangements as soon as possible!
As we continue to finalize details in the coming weeks, that information will be shared here and sent to everyone who registers early at the limited-time earlybird rate.
If you have questions or just wish to be notified when more details are added, please complete the form below with your information. We hope to see you joining us!
