Changing Lanes in Trauma Therapy
Introducing Brain-Based Therapies to Clients Who Hate ChangeÂ
With Kerry Klett, PsyD
Join Kerry Klett, PsyD for this 4-part webinar focused on introducing brain-based therapies into an existing, trauma-focused psychotherapy practice. Emphasizing the client experience and the therapeutic relationship, the course will consider the potential challenges and obstacles that may arise around changing therapeutic approaches.Â
Whether you are experienced in brain-based therapies or are just beginning to integrate them into your practice, this series offers an opportunity to reflect on your and your clients' experiences of change. Through lectures, case presentations, and group discussion, participants will gain tools to navigate potential challenges around changing modalities, evolving client/therapist relationships, and even struggles that may arise from positive treatment outcomes. While change can be difficult, thoughtful preparation makes positive treatment changes possible.
What to Expect
Identify Challenges:Â Through focused lectures, participants will explore key concepts, such as the treatment frame, transference, and resistance, that illuminate the potential challenges resulting from integrating new modalities or shifting the therapeutic relationship in trauma therapy.Â
Explore Case Examples:Â Drawing on her vast experience in psychotherapy and with introducing brain-based therapies to trauma patients, Kerry Klett will share illustrative case examples. Cases will demonstrate the dynamics of changing focus in trauma treatment, as well as successful interactions that guide patients through new treatments for positive outcomes.
Enhance your Practice: The series will include interactive group discussions for participants to reflect on and share their own experiences utilizing brain-based modalities with trauma patients. These conversations provide a space to talk through changing therapeutic dynamics, including suggesting new modalities to existing patients, supporting clients through positive treatment outcomes, and working with other therapists' clients for focused treatments.Â
